Process

To recreate Moye’s distinctive motifs, artisans in Stoke-on-Trent paint each tile with layers of slip, before screen printing the outline of her artwork and finishing each tile with hand painted colour details. Arrange them in your own mural configuration, as a chequerboard pattern with Pips tiles or scatter occasional designs across a wall of Midlands Delft Plain tiles.

References to Georgian, Baroque and Renaissance interior design, Italian Maiolica and Golden Age Dutch painting can all be seen in her work. Whilst she focuses on embellished vessels, relief sculpted panels and reinterpretations of historical European tin-glazed ceramics in her art practice, this collection is a playful homage to European Delftware tiles.

Product Details

Tiles are 100mm squares - on a hand cut base as standard. Glazed or round ededges are available upon request. We would recommend the former to best complement this collection. As with all handmade products, slight variations will occur, be it subtle irregularities in shape, shade or crazing. This will not affect the performance or serviceability of the tile. In fact, it adds to the unique characteristics of a handmade product. You may even spot the tile-maker’s fingerprints on the underside.
